The nitroTone, along with its 4-color counterpart (nitroTone 4C), is our most popular conversion technique. This is due to the image enhancement's universality of use, as well as its stunning print reproduction quality.

As the name suggests, the nitroTone is essentially a sophisticated halftone; a Grayscale file that has preserved its continuous tone. However, it has been expertly enhanced to combat any publication's inadvertent image-destroying processes. Especially the heavy ink saturation and muddy dot gain that happens in offset printing on newsprint paper. The nitroTone is specifically adjusted to compensate for the newspaper industry's technological miscues and ensures that your beautiful art will print at an optimum level.

Some of the key features of the nitroTone are: unmatched detail, added definition, sharpness, and contrast. Your file will display a rich pallette of blacks and grays, demonstratiing area separation and excellent contrast (where needed).

What we need from you

We prefer to start with your original color retouched digital file that has been approved. If the file is already b/w, it will work just fine.

We require a minimal file size of 300 ppi @ 100% the file size. Of course, higher resolution is even better.

What you get from us

The nitroTone conversion is delivered as a Grascale EPS with a minimum of 300 ppi resolution.

Typically, each file is adjusted for newsprint reproduction with maximum level of the black channel at 91%.

If you want your nitroTone for magazine, packaging or another substrate reproduction, we will provide the file with profiles adjusted accordingly.

Because we supply the converted file to you as a continuous tone B&W EPS file, any size line screen can be applied upon output.

The nitroTone has a useable size range down to 65% and up to 140% of the file size.
